Fashion Awards, PHD Gate and Julia Fox's Guide to Being a Freak

Season 2, Ep. 23

Happy birthday to us! EIC is officially a year old!

Join Beth, Ruchira and Oenone as they briefly become Miranda Priestly for the week, delivering the highs and lows of the celeb-filled Fashion Awards. Did you see that Rita Ora wore custom Primark on the red carpet...? We've got lots to talk about there.

Also this week, a woman proudly shared the news she had passed her PHD viva. Time to celebrate right? Wrong – a swarm of incel/loser men descended on her online like flies on a [redacted]. Let us tell you what exactly went down, and what we can learn from the truly unhinged altercation.

And finally le freak, c'est chic! At least, according to our beloved Julia Fox. This week our fave diva shared her tips for embracing being an outsider, and learning to lean into the freak. (Julia if you see this come on the pod!)

We've said it before and we'll say it until our last breath – thank you so much for listening to us. Could you share us with a friend as a birthday gift? Word of mouth helps us grow and in turn keep the podcast going. Remember to follow us on Instagram and TikTok @everythingiscontentpod. See you over there! x

  • Everything in Conversation: How Does Her Divorce Make Us Feel?

    31:43|
    Happy Wednesday! You know what that means – a brand new Everything in Conversation.This week on the podcast we're diving into the viral essay that incinerated the timelines just before Christmas. Yes, we're talking about The Cut's Lilly Jay essay.For anyone who doesn't know, last year stories of an alleged affair circulated around Ariana Grande and her Wicked co-star Ethan Slater. The pair soon went official, and his ex-wife Lilly Jay gained attention as a result.The chat went all sorts of places, including why the media needs a villain in a possible cheating story, the scorned woman narrative, therapy, and our views on monogamy. Let us know what you thought of the essay and our conversation, and please leave us a review wherever you listen to podcasts. It really helps us out <3-------The Cut: How Did My Divorce Make You FeelVanity Fair: Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande on Love, Defying Rumors, and Flying HighBonnier Books: Men Have Called Her Crazy Apple podcasts: Las CulturistasApple podcasts: Where Should We Begin? with Esther Perel
  • Resolutions, The Agony of Texting Men & Lively vs. Baldoni

    01:03:19|
    Happy new year and welcome back to Everything is Content! We hope you’ve missed this as much as we have (e.g. extremely, enormously and a lot).In our first episode of 2025 we’re setting our intentions for the year to come- one of us wants to go up a big hill, one of us wants to get bendy and one of us wants a full rebrand. We also discuss our relationships to reinvention and ask: is it toxic to say no to rotting in bed? Next up: the agony of texting men. Is text-debt a real thing or are we over-reliant on texting as a replacement for in-person friendship and connection? Aaaaand finally we’re looking at the latest legal drama in Hollywood as the Lively vs. Baldoni vs. NYTimes cases pick up momentum. Why are we so quick to criticise famous women and can these witch hunts and PR smear campaigns finally end with us? As ever thank you for listening! Could you help us start 2025 off right by sharing us on your socials or in your most distinguished group chat? And if you’re feeling fancy, how about a 5 star review would? • 26. Emma Appleton - Everything In Conversation

    27:50||Season 2, Ep. 26
    It's the penultimate episode of Everything is Content for 2024! Sadly Beth was travelling this week, so Oenone and Ruchira lead this very special extra episode. This week, the girls are in conversation with *the Emma Appleton*. You might know her as the lead from Dolly Alderton’s BBC adaptation of her memoir, Everything I Know About Love, but she’s now leading Paramount’s new rom-com series The Road Trip, based on the book of the same name by bestselling author Beth O’Leary. The six part series starts with a wedding trip to Spain which takes an unexpected turn for Addie (played by Emma) and her sister Deb, when they're forced to share a campervan with Addie's ex Dylan, his friend Marcus, and a stranger Rodney.  Here at EIC headquarters we can confirm the series is a gorgeous look at relationships in your 20s, navigating life and what happens when it all goes wrong. The Road Trip will be available to stream on Paramount+ from 26th December 2024. You can follow Emma on instagram @emmajappleton.Please do let us know if there are any other guests you'd love to hear from, you can message us @everythingiscontentpod on Instagram.

What were our fav bits and do we think SC could be ready to ascend to Mariah Carey levels of December Diva-hood? Also this week- a film about a harried mother who thinks she's turning into a dog. Adapted from the 2021 bestselling book of the same name, Nightbitch explores femininity, rage, marriage and parenting without a pack. We give our thoughts and share what the reviews are saying.Finally- one of the weirdest weeks online for a while. After the murder of a healthcare insurance CEO in New York, the internet is thirsting openly, unabashedly and without shame over his accused killer. Is this a symptom of the ongoing irony epidemic or are we just... missing the joke?Thank you as always for listening to Everything is Content. • 21. Holding Space for a Wickedly Weird Press Tour

    01:02:08||Season 2, Ep. 21
    What is this feeling so sudden and new? Yes, Beth, Ruchira and Oenone saw Wicked and they're not afraid to report back. Welcome to a very special, very magical (and very juicy) Wicked episode. Listen to find out their review of the year's biggest blockbuster. There were lots of tears... from Cynthia and Ariana. How did the rollout for Wicked turn out so unhinged? Is this an example of theatre kid behaviour and unrestrained earnestness, or something darker? Also, could this set the new bar for what movie marketing looks like from now on? Say what you want but every minute of Wicked's BTS has gone viral. Thanks for listening to this week's episode. We especially adore those who tune in for our bonus eps, follow and rate us five stars. Is that you?
