Celebrity Traitors, Sugar Daddies & Zack Polanski

Season 2, Ep. 104

Dearest faithful EIC listeners, happy Friday, it's time for a round table discussion to dissect the biggest stories from the week.

The UK’s first ever celebrity Traitors is here, following beloved series across in the US. This cohort include huge figures like Stephen Fry, Claire Balding, Jonathan Ross, Charlotte Church, Alan Carr and Nick Mohammed to name a few. The show, which was recorded earlier this year at Ardross Castle in Scotland, features 19 celebrity contestants competing for a prize of £100,000 for a charity of their choosing. We talk about whether or the beloved show is executing this new famous format.

Next up, sugar daddy finances. We recently read a piece for Bustle by Camille Soheet Pesha called Even The Sugar Daddies Are Feeling The Squeeze: As costs of living climb, high earners who once had money to burn on their sex lives are cutting back.” And in the piece she explores a troubling trend where the men who were once willing and able to splash the cash on sugar babies are now struggling to keep up. Sugar dating, for anyone not aware, is a type of transactional relationship where sugar daddies, typically older and wealthier, would offer gifts and money and a better quality of life to often younger, very beautiful women who offer companionship and intimacy. We discuss our thoughts on the piece.

Lastly, last year we had Brat girl summer, but the season of green might not be over yet, are we potentially having Zack Polanski autumn? The Green party has reached over 110,000 members at the time of recording, for the first time. In England and Wales the party has had over a 55% rise in membership since Polanski took over last month.

Polanski has had an unconventional path to politics, previously working as an actor, hypnotherapist and mental health counsellor. And yet is proving to be one of the most effective communicators we've seen in a very long time. One of Polanksi’s slogans is ‘Let’s make hope normal again’, is this stratospheric new interest in the Green Party making us feel hopeful?

We hope you enjoy listening, please do leave us a review on Apple Podcasts and a rating on Spotify or wherever you get podcasts, love, O,R,B xx

  • 188. AI Gae Guy, Literary Witch Hunts & Media Hounding

    57:26||Season 2, Ep. 188
    Hello EICroquettes! We are so back and Oenone has fallen for a new conspiracy, it’s like we’ve never been away. We’re bursting to the seams with two weeks of what we’ve been loving: from memes to literature - as always, we’re across it all. Enemy of the pod Sam Altman has found himself as the subject of a hilarious (and believable to some) series of memes created by Frosted Jake. Is this the ultimate punch up? Or did Frosted Jake inadvertently create a pitch perfect ChatGPT ad?Once again, the world of literature has been dominated with discourse around AI use in publishing. Have we ushered in a new era of AI witch-hunts? And why are non-white authors being disproportionately targeted? We also discuss the tragic news of Dr Jason Arday’s death and consider the responsibility of the media’s reporting around it. We know that this is an upsetting topic - so we just want to give you a heads up that this comes at the end of the episode. Have you been at the Edinburgh Fringe? DM us with your dispatches: we want to hear about the best shows, your favourite new talents, and if any of you saw Amanda Knox’s show. LINKS:SUBSTACK GOOD LAW PROJECTJason Arday, ex-Cambridge professor at centre of plagiarism row, found deadNathan Cofnas, the man at the centre of Arday plagiarism row, was dismissed for views on raceLauren's postJake Schroeder

    Hello EICritics, earlier this year we had the pleasure of speaking with author and podcaster, Caro Claire Burke. Since then the book has only grown in popularity and sales. It really has been the book of 2026.A quick synopsis of Yesteryear: Natalie is a trad wife influencer with hundreds of thousands of followers. As far as her audience knows, Natalie loves her farmhouse, her well-behaved children, making sourdough from scratch and her perfect husband Caleb. But behind the scenes of her Instagram content, everything is very, very different. Then, one morning, Natalie wakes up in the 1800s. Her phone, her assistants, they’re all gone. Is it a hoax? A reality show? A test from God? Natalie just knows she has to escape. And don't worry – no spoilers!We loved speaking with her and hope you enjoy catching up on the interview after you've hopefully read the book!Love, O,R,B xxx p.s. we're back next week! <3Vanity Fair - Lifestyle Creator Nara Smith... Happy Wednesday! As you'll no doubt know by now, the three of us have been off the EIClock for the last couple of weeks for our yearly break- and we've been using the opportunity to dig through the archives and re-release some old favs, all timers & under-appreciated gems.This week we're going back two years to when the three of us got to together to discuss fertility, PCOS and egg freezing. Back in 2024 the actress Florence Pugh opened up about having her endometriosis diagnosis dismissed by a doctor and it made us want to dive deeper into women's healthcare. Why do so many of us feel alone, in pain and under-informed when it comes to what is happening with our reproductive and gynaecological care? We share all of our thoughts and yours.Thank you a million for listening and for being so open with us about an enormously important issue. Follow us on Instagram @everythingiscontentpod so you can be involved in all future discussions.See you Friday for our final re-record- and then we'll be BACK the week after with brand new content! 01:08:52||Season 2, Ep. 184
    Hello EICorn-Cobs! Happy hump day! As we mentioned last week we're on a rare (but needed!) summer break from the podcast, and using this time to dig into the archive and rerelease some gems from 2024. This week is a return to a deep dive episode where we talked about our previous Hot Girl summers and the impact of the cost of living crisis on romance. How are we meant to find the loves of our lives when a second round of drinks is out of budget? Plus, we discuss a rise in celibacy. If Julia Fox and Lenny Kravitz are doing it, maybe we should be doing it too? And finally we’re asking the important questions about dating apps. Are they terrible? Why are they terrible? And what can we do to stop them making *us* feel terrible? Thanks so much for listening/re-listening! We're an indie pod which means that the three of us do absolutely everything for the show from picking topics, researching, writing show notes, emailing guests, chatting with you lovely listeners, editing, producing, sound mixing... the lot! And it's because of you all that it's possible. From Andy’s bangs in The Devil Wears Prada to Trinny and Susannah, glow ups were the most exciting film trope millennials like us grew up on. • 182. Everything In Conversation: Is Instagram Doomed?

    15:49||Season 2, Ep. 182
    Hello EIContent-obsessives – would you pay £3.19 a month to see how many times your crush viewed your story? Well, now you can! Introducing Instagram Plus!Instagram Plus is the new optional monthly subscription that unlocks exclusive customisation and insights on the platform, including 48-hour story extensions, anonymous story viewing, and rewatch counts. Instagram claims this is to give us users "more of what we love".But in a piece for The Atlantic, Annie Joy Williams writes: "If what you love is the ability to more conveniently keep tabs on crushes or enemies, by which I mean torture yourself, then Instagram nailed it. Instagram Plus is social media’s newest low—a company preying on our most pathetic impulses, for the price of a small iced coffee."This week's extra episode dives into what users really want from the app, tech bros' fixation with offering a poor product and the future of living life online. Beth-stans – we're sorry, our beloved was on hol this week, so Oenone and Ruchira took this one on. Also, the group are taking a well-deserved two-week break to rest and come back stronger. In the meantime, we'll be sharing some old fave episodes to sink your teeth into.
