Every Step Along The Way - A Stoke City Podcast
Special Pod: Ex-Potters striker and SCOBA organiser John Ruggiero - 6/9/24
Dan and Mike are filling your international break with another ESATW special. This time we talk to a man who played for Stoke during the golden era of the 70's before again playing a major role in the modern day as the organiser and main man behind SCOBA - the Stoke City Old Boys Association.
We talk about growing up in Stoke, getting spotted by the Potters and what it was like as a YTS during the clubs golden era, experiencing cold showers and apartheid during spells out on loan and then how the Butler Stand blowing down gave him his big chance. We also find out what its like to live the phrase 'I'll drive you to your new club myself' and who were the best players he shared a pitch with.
Then, after giving us his thoughts and reveals his excitement at the current Potters side, John tells us the meaning behind SCOBA and its aim's, the great work its achieved so far and how anyone can get involved at their meetings as well as revealing just how many members it has, and how some may not even know they are part of it!
