We're back for another deep dive in another major tournament. By listener request, our intrepid team - Rob Murphy, Michael Foley, Ciaran O' Hara, Billy Joe Padden and Colin Sheridan - are getting right into a World Cup they didn't see the first time and will be joined by special guests throughout, as the full story of the 1982 FIFA World Cup is told one game at a time, one day at a time.

And we're up and running, the opening game of Argentina's World Cup defence is overshadowed by events at home, but there is still plenty football to talk about.

Whooooooaaaaa! Brazil are here! This is What the 1982 World Cup is all about! And the Soviets, Poles and Italians aren't too shabby either.

The crew are joined by our Scottish correspondent Kevin Corcoran, as Colin finally sees some goals and Cameroon make their World Cup debut.

Day 4 and it's a marathon not a sprint! England get off to a quick start against France, Jupp Derwal needs a ticket to Munich and the hosts get a shock in Valencia.

It's Day 5 and debutants Kuwait reveal their Zico to the world, Panenka has a penalty, Chile and Austria both have big ambitions and Northern Ireland bridge a 24 year World Cup gap.

Italy are still stumbling as they take on Peru, Scotland play their best half of football ever at a World Cup, only for Brazil to play a better second half and Diego Armando Maradona arrives on the World stage.

Having gorged on all the sugary goodness of Brazil and Argentina on Day 6. Day 7 finds Rob, Mick and Ciaran seeking a cure in Poland v Cameroon, Belgium v El Salvador and USSR v New Zealand. 

England are into Round 2, Spain have home advantage and West Germany are back on the wagon after time in the Liquor Lake. Rob, Mick and Ciaran have their hands full with this one.
