Ask an Adviser: Inside Liam and Emma's first advice session with Christine Dang

Season 9

What actually happens when you go to get financial advice?

As two people that haven't been able to afford advisers, that is a question both of us (Bryce and Ren) have. And that is a question we often hear from the Equity Mates community. So we set out to answer it.

To do it, we took on the personas of Liam and Emma - a couple working on building wealth and planning for some major life milestones - and sat down with financial adviser Christine Dang.

Listen as we take you inside the room and unpack how an initial meeting with an adviser takes place. We cover:

  • The 'getting-to-know-you' questions an adviser will ask
  • What financial information they are after
  • How they approach goals and major financial milestones
  • The most common financial situations they encounter
  • How clients can manage competing financial goals (i.e. buying a house v paying for a wedding)
  • Thinking about investing inside of super or outside of it
  • And so much more!

Whether you already have an adviser, are thinking about speaking to one, or are not interested at all - this episode will help you think about your personal financial situation and goals.

  • ASX's best start since 2013, is Boeing a buy after 40% drop & Pimp my Portfolio with Adam Dawes

Don't look now, but the Aussie stock market is breaking records. The first quarter of the 2025 financial year (i.e. July to September) was the best opening quarter since 2013. And that is despite plenty of negative headlines (never forget News.com.au's "horror global bloodbath" from the start of August).Just another reminder that timing the market is nigh on impossible. That's why we love a consistent, automated approach that invests regularly in the market on up-days and down-days.Enough about our investing philosophy, because we're covering a lot in this episode of Equity Mates:The Aussie stocks that led the charge this quarter (how about Zip up 94%!)Australia has delivered a budget surplus for the second consecutive year Koala Airlines is trying to go where Rex and Bonza failedMr Beat Up joins us on the podcast to chat about Boeing's year from hellAdam Dawes joins us for another edition of Pimp my Portfolio —------Want to get involved in the podcast?
