Been a busy week for the podcast with a serious international feel. Having opened with the historical clash of Fury/Whilder we round out a memorable year by previewing yet another barn burning weekends fights.  First up Al speaks with Nick Nunan from deep inside camp Hogan in Brooklyn. We get the feedback on the strange behaviour of Charlo at the presser, on how Dennis is looking,feeling and moving and what his last few hours will entail as we count down the hours to the weigh in and subsequent fight. Not finished there though Al then speaks with Belfast man and resident in the Emirates for the last number of years Aaron Bickerstaff. Aaron is a former boxer himself and was largely responsible for the Irish team travelling and competing in the HUGELY successful Sovereign Boxing Championship last weekend. Aaron talks about the growth of boxing in the region, the likely impact of the upcoming clash of Anthony Joshua and Andy Ruiz and the future for boxing in the region. Nick Nunan from Australian Boxing podcast Against the Ropes and Al combine to have a close loo at all the layers which will feed into a huge fight for Irish and Australian boxing. 

Eric Donovan is the feature of this short episode - which will be the forst of 3 this week. He talks about his recent fight in Scotland, about the future for his career and the recent Elite Senior championships. There's also a quick review of the weekend fights and a look ahead to whats coming.  

Ricky Hatton is a former two-weight world champion - Welterweight & Light Welterweight. ‘The Hitman’ retired eventually with a staggering record of 48 fights, 45 wins, 3 losses with 38 coming by knockout. He joins this episode to chat about his career & his affinity for Irish people & of course the pint of ‘black’ - he laughs as he tells Al “I should really be called Ricky O’Hatton”. He now has a stable of fighters and trains 2 Irish boxers - Chris Blainey & Brett McGinity. Ricky is roundly acknowledged as one of IF NOT Britain’s most successful fighters ever and certainly the most popular. ohn Joe Nevin is possibly Ireand's most decorated amateur stars of all time. A double world championship medalist, European Gold Medalist in 2013 and of course the London 2012 Olympic Silver Medalist. His transition was said to be a formality - it has taken longer than planned but this weekend he fights a tough Nicaraguan for the WBA International Title at York Hall on Sat night. He talks about his boxing journey to date and looks ahead with a warning for world champ Tevin Farmer! Daina Moorehouse has won national titles all through the ranks - won multiple European medals and recently transitioned into the adult ranks. Shes back to talk about the move up and everything else. We look at the recent controversy over the Elite Senior championships  and all the recent boxing news. The Jukeboxing Year that Was is 1988 - chosen this week by Aine Garvin. 

Gerry Cooney told me recently that old school trainers were so much more than a coach - most serious boxing fans will know what that means In John Breen I believe we have the classic example of that. As he celebrates 40 years in coaching - listen to the names that he has worked with - Victor Cordoba, Paul 'Hocko', Wayne Alexander and Dave 'Boy' McCauley are onnly a few but many if not all are still in touch today.
