027 The Importance of Adult Education and Digital Literacy with Rebecca Eller-Molitas
HOT TOPIC: Evolution of Learning
This week's episode of the EdTech Speaks podcast welcomes Rebecca Eller-Molitas, Adult Education Consultant, speaker, trainer, and writer.
Rebecca began her adult education career overseas as an ESL teacher in Japan. Since returning to the US, she has been fortunate to teach and lead in the nonprofit and educational community with roles in all areas of adult learning including ABE/ASE, GED, ESL, Digital Literacy, teacher training, and Transitions. Approaching adult basic education with an intention to understand its various parts has given her deep insight into how silos within the system can come together - from programs, to workforce, to funding.
During the interview, Rebecca leaves us a thought-provoking reminder when she says, "Adult Education is a bigger need in the US than most people realize. Many adults still lack basic literacy and numeracy skills, and this impacts all areas of society from health to employment to a child's success in school."
