  • 35. What happened to Nancy Guthrie?

    57:13||Season 7, Ep. 35
    This week on Eavesdroppin' podcast, hosts Geordie & Michelle look at kidnappings with ransom notes...When Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of USA's Today presenter Savannah Guthrie, disappeared from her Tucson home in February 2026, investigators immediately believed it was a kidnapping. There was blood at the house, disturbing doorbell-camera footage and, later, ransom notes demanding millions in Bitcoin. Then in July this year, new ransom notes were released claiming Nancy had died. So what's the real story? Is she still alive? Or did she perish? Six months on, there has still been no arrest and no confirmed sign of Nancy... Echoing Nancy’s disappearance, Michelle looks at another extraordinary kidnapping from back in 1969: the case of Muriel McKay, who was abducted from her London home after being mistaken for Rupert Murdoch’s wife, Anna. Two brothers were eventually convicted of her murder, but Muriel’s body has never been found, and more than 50 years later her family are still searching for answers. So grab a brown lemonade and settle in as the duo chat kidnappings, ice cream, a gravity conspiracy theory and more on Eavesdroppin’.
