I mean not that it’s about numbers… But it kind of is… Anyway - the energy and steam does not dissipate or dissolve as we approach the 200th, as Pip is joined this week by the inspirational and full on musical powerhouse that is Charlotte Hatherley!
A lovely episode to kind of sit in on, as Pip and Charlotte talk shop on a number of topics but of course, the main one is music. A LOT of music talk… Charlotte is a seasoned pro, having played since the age of 15, and her path has seen her play alongside/in bands with Ash, KT Tunstall, Bryan Ferry (in Kazakhstan no less), Birdy, Bat For Lashes, and that’s just a couple on her long list… Through those experiences she has learned much, gems of which she drops here for us all to absorb - the effects on one’s health on a tour, label budgets and the importance of them, being female in an industry which is often very male dominated, the days before social media, the ‘no special treatment’ aspect of being on tour versus the more sensible, restful approach to it, and then it all rounds out with some full on sci-fi geekery which she and Pip TRULY nerd out on. What are YOUR thoughts on the dude from Altered Carbon? It’ll come up… Also - her 'Space Rocks' show in conjunction with the Space Agency! Crazy - you'll hear MUCH more no that one... What happens though is a beautifully cordial, jovial, inspiring and really warm catchup between folks who have a lot of love for each other but a love which radiates outwards to us too. You'll notice it and feel it. And while tough topics come up - not least involving where Musa lives and the environment cooking there - it is all met with that said outward gaze and a communal outlook. A perfect listen not only for this time of year, but for this time in the world. A lush mix of local and global happening throughout - the small acts of kindness which spread out, that kind of vibe.
