Democracy Under Fire!

Author and Attorney Rich Procida leads a discussion about the war in Ukraine and the current threat to democracy in the United States and around the world. Author and Attorney Rich Procida is the founder of the Truth and Democracy Coalition and the producer of Democracy Under Fire!, a show covering the threat to democracy and what we can do about it. He studied law and international service at American University in Washington, D.C. He authored a textbook on global studies and writes for LAProgressive.com and Buzzflash.com.

Minister and activist Dom Jones led a discussion about race, political division, and Ukraine, among other things.

If we are going to save democracy, we are going to need to reach across political lines. We will need the support of more than half of Americans should we have to overthrow a dictatorship. 50% of the vote may not even be enough to win elections in the future. We need to reach out to the center whether we like it or not. Dom Jones is a minister and community activist who works with businesses and community leaders in Huntington Beach, California, to address the problem of homelessness and to advocate for youth and community services. As an African American Woman in a conservative community, she organizes across racial lines daily. As a minister, she seeks to bring communities together. Dom Jones led a discussion about the following: 1. How do we build unity across political lines? 2. How does race affect politics? 3. How can we demystify politics for the masses so engagement increases? 4. What are the roots of American democracy as instituted by the "founder fathers" and what were their true intention? 5. What was the great American Experiment truly about and how can we achieve these ideals with real collaboration? 5. How do we uphold the values of freedom for all people, establish and maintain a true citizenry-led democratic government, and ensure a better democracy for future generations? 6. He has engaged in numerous fights and extensive litigation over voter suppression and election laws in the Buckeye State.
