  • The Producer: A Message

    08:19|
I was blindsided when my epic Producer, the one and only, York Campbell said he was going to record a short episode about Deep into History. How his skills and mine combine to make something unique and special.York and I knew each other for years before we started working together. Online friends and allies, if you will, when Twitter was the proverbial Mos Eisley Cantina and fun to fight and dunk on troglodytes to create oases of calm/peace/love for our friends/followers/audiences along with many other like minded creators to create calm amongst the chaos. He is one of the most talented, compassionate, knowledgeable, and understanding people I have ever had the pleasure to know. Since we started working together we have become dear friends. I never have or will listen to an episode he produces before releasing it, even though he always insists I do. Because it's York & Arjun, like RZA & GZA, Eric B. & Rakim, DJ Premier & Guru, or Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth. I just know it will always be perfect because we have synergy.Thank you for this York. Love you brother.Follow York's podcast Welcome to Earth Stories: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/welcome-to-earth-stories/id1329923548https://open.spotify.com/show/41QiNh00GC4jKBHJHIlhSl?si=cb6a83c8d4984edcPLEASE support the show, I could really use your help:https://www.patreon.com/deepintohistoryDeep into History is Produced by York Campbell of Poetic Earthlings Studio.Music: Sad Dramatic March by MusicLFilesFree download: https://filmmusic.io/song/6240-sad-dramatic-marchLicensed under CC BY 4.0: https://filmmusic.io/standard-licenseOthermusic in this episode is licensed under Epidemic Sound

  • The Iran War

    01:42:35|
I recently had the honor to collaborate with the incomparable Rev Left Radio:Breht and I join forces to in wide-ranging discussion on the War between the USA, Israel, and Iran. We focus on the underlying causes, the mainstream media, online disinformation, and the geopolitical implications. Along the way we talk about the causes, Epstein, the politics, the conspiracies, the human and environmental costs, along with the global response form Europe, NATO, Russia, China, India, the Gulf States and the International community in general. We bring you up to date on the events of the War right up to the moment we stopped recording. We try to help one another through the insanity of trying to make sense of the sheer amount of misinformation, outright lies, and AI slop everywhere. The conversation naturally takes many interesting and worthwhile detours along the way with tangents ranging from Operation Millennium Challenge 2002, the response of the left & right, YouTube misinformation, and exploring historical parallels. The spooky season is here, the time when the veil between the living world and what comes next is at its thinnest. According to legend a time when ghosts, ghouls, spirits, and otherworldly creatures are able to materialize and interact with us.Today I bring you a tale based in History but has grown from what is most likely two factual incidents that when spread amongst the people grew in their retelling and blended together to become one tragic story of love, betrayal, murder, supernatural vengeance, and true horror. In fact it released a curse that is felt and dreaded today. It comes to us from Japan, and though ubiquitous, became famous when it was recorded, written and staged for the first time in the 7th lunar month of 1825 in Tokyo called TÔKAIDÔ YOTSUYA KAIDAN.Samurai, the Shogun, Ronin, Merchants, Peasants, and Japanese Culture collide to bring us this tragic tale. Come dream with me as we go Deep into 19th Century Japan and witness the rise of a spirit of vengeance in a tale, I call, Onryō.PLEASE support the show, I could really use your help:https://www.patreon.com/deepintohistoryDeep into History is Produced by York Campbell of Poetic Earthlings Studio.Music: Sad Dramatic March by MusicLFilesFree download: https://filmmusic.io/song/6240-sad-dramatic-marchLicensed under CC BY 4.0: https://filmmusic.io/standard-licenseOthermusic in this episode is licensed under Epidemic Sound

  • The Curious Case of Athenodorus

    13:19|
The spooky season is upon us. Halloween, the time when the veil between the living world and what comes next is at its thinnest. According to legend a time when ghosts, ghouls, spirits, and otherworldly creatures are able to materialize and interact with us.Today I bring you the account of an ancient inquiry into the paranormal from the 1st Century CE. It comes to us from a letter written to a dear friend from the lawyer, author, and magistrate of the Roman Empire Pliny the Younger. In it he is desperate to discover if Ghosts are real, fore he fears that they are. He gives us a priceless retelling of three ghost stories. The first two are second hand reports from Carthage in Africa and Athens in Greece. Then one from his household which chilled him to his core and forced him to consult his most learned friend Sura. The most famous of the three by far is the account of the ghost that haunted a beautiful villa in Athens. Once the specter appeared the owners abandoned the property, could not sell it, and tried to rent it out to recover as least some of its value. Instead every one it was rented to was terrorized each night by the ghost. The tale of the evil spirit and the curse it lay on the villa spread across the city and soon no one would dare approach the place at night let alone pay to stay there. That is until the philosopher Athenodorus decided that the stories were superstitious nonsense spread by illiterate peasants and the very low price to live there was a once in a lifetime bargain. Then he encountered the ghost.... So come dream with me as we experience the Ancient Imperial Paranormal Inquiry launched by Pliny the Younger in the First Century in a tale, I call, The Curious Case of Athenodorus.PLEASE support the show, I could really use your help:https://www.patreon.com/deepintohistoryDeep into History is Produced by York Campbell of Poetic Earthlings Studio.
