Sallinen is an information security consultant at Orange Cyberdefense and an AI researcher for the Swedish government. She also serves in the Swedish Armed Forces - Home Guard. Kanthi Narukonda is an assistant professor in The Beacom College of Computer & Cyber Sciences teaching cyber law and policy. She is also the director of CybHER Institute, managing undergraduates in the development of cybersecurity curriculum for K-12 students. Dr. Ashley Podhradsky is an award-winning cybersecurity expert who serves as DSU's Vice President for Research & Economic Development and co-founder of CybHER.The trio talked about their journeys in the cybersecurity industry, the importance of diversity in both gender and background, and how organizations can best support women in cyber.

    On this episode of Cyberology, Dr. Fenecia Homan returns as a guest to give us an update on the Governors Cyber Academy, which is dedicated to expanding awareness and access to cyber education and career pathways to South Dakota high school students. Homan recaps how the first full year of programming went and what is on the horizon for the upcoming year. The Governors Cyber Academy gives high school students the opportunity to take university-level, transferrable, dual-credit cyber courses. Students who take all courses in the program will complete the first year for a bachelor's degree in computer science, artificial intelligence, cyber operations, and network and security administration.

    On this episode of Cyberology, Dr. David De Jong, dean of the College of Education & Human Performance shares details about the Teacher Apprenticeship Pathway (TAP) Program in South Dakota. In its second year, paraprofessionals interested in advancing their careers while continuing classroom work and staying in their communities can apply to the TAP program for the opportunity to earn an elementary education, special education, or secondary education degree.The statewide initiative is a collaboration between the South Dakota Department of Labor & Regulation, the South Dakota Department of Education, the South Dakota Board of Regents, the Regional Educational Library, Gov. Kristi Noem, Dakota State University, Northern State University, and local school districts. The program provides financial support and mentorship.

    Cyberology is kicking off season 4 with a look at a brand new degree program, Digital Content Creation, starting this fall. Haley Larson represents the College of Arts & Sciences in this episode, sharing how this new interdisciplinary program will equip students to create strategic multimedia content to be used to create and manage media campaigns across different platforms, apps, and media channels while learning business skills and even some programming. This unique degree will prepare students to be adaptable to changing metrics, preparing them to adjust messaging and management of digital media productions and campaigns.

He shares how new technology and platforms like Trojan Connect have made it easier to communicate and help accommodate students.

Students in the Cyber Leadership & Intelligence degree provides students with a background in cybersecurity, in addition to learning analytical tools, communication skills, and a broader understanding of political, cultural, and human behavior.
