Micotherapy Series - Ganoderma lucidum (Reishi)
This Podcast explore the therapeutic mushroom Ganoderma lucidum (Reishi).
Ganoderma lucidum is the most famous of all the medicinal mushrooms, revered for over 2,000 years with some evidence suggesting its use in Neolithic China 6,800 years ago. it is also the most recommended due to the wide variety of its medicinal properties. It has been used for thousands of years in traditional East Asian medicine protocols for promoting health and longevity, and it is still considered one of the most effective remedy. In China it is called Lingzhi and in Japan Reishi which respectively mean ‘miraculous’, ‘divine’ and ‘mushroom of immortality’ because of its therapeutic properties and its rarity. In the past, Reishi had become so precious that it was reserved only for emperors and nobility. However, in the second half of the last century, the development of techniques for the cultivation of Ganoderma lucidum made this mushroom more accessible, thus making it one of the most widespread mushrooms and one of the most studied in the world.
