Building and breaking a legacy: Oasis, Taylor Swift & Carrie Bradshaw
In All’s Well That Ends Well Shakespeare once wrote that “no legacy is so rich as honesty” and that’s a lesson that some of the people covered in this week’s show might have done well to heed. Because let’s face it, legacy is a huge part of celebrity culture nowadays - building it, monetising it and just generally how not to leave a turd blocked toilet in your wake.
Our very first episode sees Kate and Rory gather around the trough to deconstruct the biggest (pop)culture stories of the week. From Oasis, to Taylor (both Swift and Liz) and why all wasn’t well and didn’t end well for Carrie Bradshaw’s Sex and The City multiverse. Because let's face it, when it comes to the writing on And Just Like That, Shakespeare it was not.
Culture Pigs - where the cultural trough is elevated. Kate and Rory's weekly wallow takes them from the mineral rich pools of high-brow art to the lowliest puddles of entertainment culture. All you have to do is dive in and listen.

This week, Kate and Rory talk about how the Diddy doc is Netflix’s last chance at relevancy, the biggest political scandal since Clinton/Lewinsky—come for the terrible poetry, stay for the Parks and Rec links—and how Rush Hour’s latest iteration could spell G-R-I-M for culture. Have you noticed a dip in big-screen nudity and naughtiness? But the sex scene is alive and thriving on your TV back home? The Culture Pigs uncover the truth behind the death of the erotic thriller and whether or not we've become prudish to adult content in public. For Kate's surprise topic this week, everything from The Rookie to James Bond is put under the magnifying glass due to their blatant - and mood-ruining - product placements, while Rory discusses some of the hottest people on the planet... and whether or not they deserve that title. Please follow the Culture Pigs on IG and TikTok (@culturepigs), and like, share, comment, rate, etc. It helps us defeat the algorithm! Try Hard: All's Fair, Michael Jackson & Labubus
56:12|Can you be camp on purpose? Can we trust the truth if we can't trust the source? Is the reign of American entertainment coming to an end?Yep, we're asking some HEAVY questions this week, but don't worry, it's all in good fun! Off the back of Kim Kardashian's new hit (??) show All's Fair, both Kate and Rory figured it would be only fair to give the episodes a fair shake, while also working out if critics can even tell the difference between purposefully camp and accidentally terrible?Later in the show, Rory discusses the first teaser for Michael, the upcoming biopic on Michael Jackson, and what to expect from the movie, and if the whole subgenre of musical biopics should be put to bed. And then Kate delves into the origins of Labubus, and unravels whether they signify the latest evidence that Eastern culture is booming while American culture is deep in its flop era. Please continue to follow the Culture Pigs on IG and TikTok (@culturepigs), and like, share, comment, rate, etc. It helps us defeat the algorithm!
