It’s been seen as a safe sanctuary for wanted members of the Kinahan Organised Crime group but the United Arab Emirates has repeatedly insisted that it wants to clean up its image.
Now a major investigation has found that a son of its ruler was signed over a real estate company by Italian gangster Raffaele Imperiale as he hid from authorities in his own country in the glittering properties of the desert paradise.
So who is in charge in Dubai? And exactly who are the Irish government trying to deal with to see the return of murder accused Sean McGovern and his boss Daniel Kinahan?
