Pat Cummins walked out as nightwatchman at number 3 in the final session of day three of the first test in Perth. Australia were reduced to 12-3 chasing 534 after Kohli scored an unbeaten 100 in a welcome return to form, partnered by a dazzling 161 from Yashasvi Jaiswal.

Jasprit Bumrah and Harshit Rana finished off the Aussie tail bowling the side out for 104. India pushed to a lead of 218 at the close of play thanks to a fluent innings from the visiting openers. KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal walked off at stumps 62* and 90* respectively.
