This episode invites you to dive into a train ride from Poland to Ukraine, with a dozen journalists from the EU who come to Ukraine for the first time since Russian full-scale invasion started.
It is the first episode of a mini-series of 3, about a one-week study trip to Ukraine by journalists from Bulgaria, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy and Spain. They travelled to start or strengthen their expertise on Ukraine, and meet with colleagues from Ukrainian media.

Alim Aliev, Deputy Director of the Ukrainian Institute, Kateryna Zarembo, a researcher and author on eastern Ukraine, and Anton Skyba, a journalist and photographer for foreign media, examined the challenges of reporting on Ukraine's occupied territories. From Sofia to Madrid, each person felt a strong contrast between their time in Ukraine and everyday life at home. 37:52||Season 2, Ep. 2A conversation, recorded in a shelter in Kyiv, about the experiences our fellows will take away from the study visit they participated in with the Europe-Ukraine Desk. Two of them share the emotional highs, lows and resilience they've witnessed, but also revisit discussions from the panels they attended with Ukrainian journalists, who shared their criticisms of the role of foreign media in covering the war in Ukraine. Flora-Dora Czatari is a Hungarian journalist, she worked for the weekly newspaper HvG when we recorded this interview in Kyiv, in February 2024, but since then she has moved to another role for the Hungarian Civil Liberties Union.
