What if the greatest threat to your spiritual journey isn't a dramatic fall, but a single degree of drift?A pilot can be just one degree off course and still look like everything is going according to plan. But over time, that small deviation can take the plane miles from its intended destination. The same can happen in our spiritual lives. Small shifts in our priorities, thinking, and relationship with God can quietly change the direction of our lives.In this message, we look back at Genesis and the creation story to remember where we came from and why God created us in the first place. We were made for relationship with one another, stewardship of God's creation, and most importantly, relationship with God.When we understand our origin and our destination, we can better recognize when we've begun to drift.This conversation challenges us to ask some honest questions: Do we know where we came from? Do we know where we're going? And if we've started drifting from God, do we know how to find our way back?A life anchored in God's purpose doesn't mean we will never drift. What does it really mean to live at peace?Peace is often something we think of as a feeling, a quiet moment, or simply the absence of conflict. But in Colossians 3: 15, Paul invites us into something much deeper: “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts.”That little word let opens up a bigger conversation about our relationship with God. God takes the initiative toward us, but he also gives us the freedom to respond. We aren't simply passive recipients of God's grace. We participate in what he is doing in our lives.And biblical peace begins with something even deeper than our circumstances. Through Christ, we have peace with God. We have been reconciled to the One who created us. That changes how we understand peace, and it changes how we move through everything else.So what is actually ruling your heart? Fear? Circumstances? Other people's opinions? Uncertainty? What does it actually look like to live as someone who has been made new?In Colossians 3, Paul gives us a picture of the transformed Christian life by telling us to “put on” a new way of living. Like adding layers as the seasons change, we are called to clothe ourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience, then hold it all together with love.But this isn't about simply trying harder to become a better person. These qualities flow from knowing who we already are in Christ. We are chosen. We are dearly loved. That identity becomes the foundation for genuine humility, and from that humility, the other layers of Christlike character begin to take shape.Paul also challenges the divisions we use to separate ourselves from others. Paul isn't simply telling us to try harder or become better people. He is reminding us that something has already changed. In Christ, our old life has died, and we have been raised to a new life.So what do we do with the things that still pull us back toward the old way of living?
