Nurse Practitioner Part 1 of 3
On this week's episode, I am sitting down with Nisa who, with 4 degrees, a business owner, and a nurse practitioner achieving it the highest level has gone through a roller coaster ride. She navigates us in her journey in nursing. We dive into her schooling and her experience in university and how family support is such a factor through out her life. She talks about the detours, life events that shaped her to be relentless in her pursuit to become a nurse practitioner. With near death experiences, she was able to adjust and overcome the challenges life threw at her. Either being placed as a charge nurse with little experience, or starting a new business entirely, Nisa shares her what she has learned. If you ever feel when things are impossible we’re reminded that we are more resilient than we think we are. Nisa shares her life story in the hopes that like myself, are able inspire many who are in similar situations. A seasoned emergency nurse for a decade, she talks about her experience starting from a new grad, on to the different departments of emerge. She talks the different roles she had ranging from triage, and what its like being a charge nurse. We talk about her growth and transition and why she became a nurse and what lead her to purse to become a nurse practitioner. From being uncertain of what she wanted to be, to staying the course in nursing, we share stories of being a new graduate and feeling the pressure. Currently, a nurse practitioner and working with a vulnerable group of homeless population, we get an insight on her role in harm reduction with her clients. The outreach clinic has provided care for this vulnerable population and Dalena explains what caring for them means to her. As humans we all look for ways to connect with others, and people in vulnerable sector are no different. We look for acceptance and hope for a better life. This was a great episode as we open up topics of the cycle of homelessness and how it deeply affects the community. Excited for you guys to tune in. Enjoy!
