FBI Links Suspect to Brown, MIT Killings
01:45|FBI Examines Shooting Suspects Car, Links to Brown University and MIT Killings; Neves Valente Found Dead in Storage Unit The Federal Bureau of Investigations Evidence Response Team recently examined a car linked to the suspect in the Brown University shooting and the tragic killing of a Massachusetts Institute of Technology professor. The individual, identified as forty-eight-year-old Claudio Neves Valente, was discovered deceased inside a storage facility in Salem, New Hampshire, with authorities indicating he took his own life. Earlier this week, officials located the suspects vehicle at this storage facility, which ultimately led them to Neves Valente. Police confirmed that he had rented the car, a gray Nissan Sentra, from an Alamo Rent A Car in Boston, Massachusetts, during late November. The vehicle initially had Florida license plates, but investigators noted that Neves Valente later changed these plates, seemingly in an attempt to evade detection. During a news conference, officials revealed significant findings both inside the car and within the storage unit. Among the evidence recovered was a firearm found at Neves Valentes feet, along with a satchel that matched descriptions from previously released person-of-interest photos. This discovery provided crucial links in the ongoing investigation. Following these findings, FBI evidence technicians were observed carefully wrapping the car. They wore hazmat suits, a standard procedure to meticulously preserve any potential DNA evidence both inside and on the exterior of the vehicle. This step is critical for forensic analysis and to gather all possible clues. According to officials, the investigation remains active as they continue to process all collected evidence. Their primary goal now is to determine a clear motive behind these serious attacks and to fully understand the circumstances surrounding the events.
