50 Years of Chelsea - 1982-83
Continuing our series '50 Years of Chelsea' looking back, season by season, from the FA Cup winning 1970 season to present day; Stamford Chidge is joined by Jonathan Kydd and Mark Meehan, co-author of 'Eddie Mac, Eddie Mac' and a writer for cfcuk, to look back at the 1982-83 season.
In John Neal's second season in charge, Chelsea are still in Division 2 and the supporters as ever are optimistic of a swift return to Division 1. However, after a promising start, Chelsea sleep walk toward relegation to Division 3. It all boils down to the penultimate match against Bolton at Burnden Park; arguably the most important match in Chelsea's history.
The boys discuss the ups and downs of the season, the tales and anecdotes and the low down on new arrivals such as David Speedie and Joey Jones together with clips from the 'Chelsea Special' interviews with Gary Chivers and John Bumstead on the Bolton match and Paul Canoville on his first goals for the club against Carlisle United and Fulham.
