Sauer struck out 17 batters in eight masterful innings against Double-A New Hampshire. He allowed only two hits and one run. Perhaps the most impressive stat is that he racked up all those strikeouts in just 95 pitches thanks to an exceptional 78% strike percentage. Sauer became the first full-season minor leaguer to strike out 17 batters in a game since Phil Pfeifer did so in July 2019 with the now defunct High-A Florida Fire Frogs.
