Susie Q, the beloved Asian elephant, once graced the lawn of Channel Two TV station in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. Owned by station founder J. Drayton Hastie, she was a local star, entertaining visitors and starring on TV. However, her wild side led to escapes and a kidnapping. In the early 1960s, she vanished, with rumors of her heading to Florida. Despite leads to zoos in Tampa and Jacksonville, her whereabouts remained unknown.
