Kingdom Mindset: Seeing Yourself Through the Father’s Eyes.

Season 2027, Ep. 17
•
Talk by Liz Gregg

What happens when we stop seeing ourselves through the eyes of shame, comparison and self-criticism—and begin to see ourselves through the loving eyes of the Father?

In this message, we continue exploring Kingdom versus Empire, discovering how our mindset shapes the way we see God, ourselves and others.

An empire mindset is marked by separation, scarcity, certainty, perfectionism and self-centredness. But the Kingdom mindset invites us into connection, abundance, mystery, humility and grace.

Jesus calls us to love God with all our heart, soul and mind, and to love our neighbour as ourselves. But what does that actually look like? And how do we learn to love ourselves rightly when our inner voice is often filled with criticism and shame?

Drawing on Psalm 139, Psalm 131, Romans 8:1, Proverbs 27:17 and 2 Corinthians 10:5, we explore:

  • Who does the Father say I am?
  • How being made in God's image shapes our identity
  • Learning to gaze into the Father's loving eyes
  • Breaking the cycle of negative self-talk
  • Taking destructive thoughts captive
  • Why community is essential to Kingdom transformation
  • How love becomes the grace that enables us to change
  • Moving from shame and disconnection into healing and freedom

A powerful testimony from Bethel about a persecuted convert who encountered the overwhelming love of Jesus after a bombing reminds us that the Kingdom is not simply something we believe—it is something we encounter.

The message finishes with prayer, reflection and an invitation to encounter the Father's love.

Perhaps the question isn't simply, "What do I think about myself?"

Perhaps it's: "What does the Father see when He looks at me?"

Take some time to slow down, listen and let the Father's love reshape the way you see yourself.

  • 14. Kingdom or Empire? Learning to Love Like Jesus

    47:19||Season 2026, Ep. 14
    What does it really mean to build God's Kingdom rather than our own empire?In this message, Liz Gregg explores three remarkable encounters from Luke 7 and Mark 7, revealing the radical compassion of Jesus towards those society rejected—the Gentile woman, the sinful woman, and the widow whose son had died. Rather than seeing labels, failures, or divisions, Jesus saw people through the Father's eyes and responded with transformative love.As we reflect on Jesus' command to love our neighbours—and even our enemies—we're challenged to ask: Who are "those people" in our own lives? How can we move beyond irritation, prejudice, and self-protection to become people of Kingdom compassion?Drawing on personal stories, pastoral experience, and insights from Blake Healy's Through the Veil, this episode offers a practical invitation to see others as God sees them and to allow His love to shape our responses.Whether you're wrestling with difficult relationships, longing to grow in compassion, or seeking to live more fully in God's Kingdom, this conversation will encourage and challenge you to love like Jesus.Key Scriptures: Matthew 22:37–39, Matthew 5:43–48, Luke 6:27–28, Luke 7:11–17, Luke 7:36–50, Mark 7:24–30.

  • 10. Psalm 23 Through Connection: Leaving Separation Mindset Behind

    52:53||Season 2026, Ep. 10
    Sorry ! There are some audio drop outs on the recording. Still well worth listening to.John Hulse opens with jokes, then recaps a church theme about building with an “empire mindset” and explains two lenses for life: separation (scarcity, certainty, perfection, self-centeredness) versus connection (enough, mystery, fallibility, others-focused). Using Psalm 23 (amplified), John argues it is often read through a Western, separation mindset that treats God like a controller, instead of a shepherd who feeds, guides, and shields. He links “I shall not want” to freedom from scarcity and describe green pastures and still waters as restoring spaces that foster creativity and prepare people for growth. John redefines the “valley of the shadow of death” as the fears that stop someone taking the next step of obedience, illustrating with Paul writing in prison and a personal story of becoming a union rep guided by Micah 6:8. He interprets “a table in the presence of my enemies” as inviting and honoring opponents, referencing a Russell Brand interview with Jamie Winship that challenged the speaker’s judgment.
  • 9. The Uncompromising Disciple: Stand Firm, Speak Boldly, Love Fiercely

    46:36||Season 2026, Ep. 9
    Andrew Cannon of Gospel Grenades warmly greets Celebrate Church. He shares about his book and “Freedom in Christ” merchandise, and highlights Project Saved, inviting supporters to sign up for the newsletter and give monthly to help rescue children in Nepal, noting rapid growth in staff and rescues. He then teaches on “The Uncompromising Disciple,” outlining four themes: stand firm in faith, speak boldly, love fiercely, and don’t back down. Using scriptures from Ephesians, Joshua, Acts, 1 Peter, Galatians, Hebrews, and examples like Peter and John, Daniel, Jonah, and Paul and Silas, he urges believers to go public with faith, resist fear through God’s love, use praise as a powerful spiritual weapon, and live faithfully with courage and unity, even under pressure and potential persecution.
