You may have heard people talking about this week's RTE Investigates documentary on the fact that many Irish people are still being forced to travel to access abortion services. The issues raised are really troubling, and it seems that many people weren't aware of the awful circumstances in which people still find themselves in around pregnancy in this country. This week I caught up with Annie Tidbury, Service Manager of the Abortion Support Network, a volunteer-run service which assists people in accessing abortion. Sadly, Ireland is still in the top two countries they hear from. We talked about why there are still barriers and what we can do to make change.

    47:39||Season 1, Ep. 494
    Today’s guest is Professor Kimberly D. Acquaviva. Kimberly has spent more than a decade working in education around inclusivity for LGBTQIA people in end of life care, A year and a half after she published LGBTQ-Inclusive Hospice & Palliative Care: A Practical Guide to Transforming Professional Practice in 2017, Kim learned that her wife Kathy had ovarian cancer. Kim and Kathy spent the next six months sharing their experiences via social media and giving people a sense of what it's like to be living while dying.  Shortly after Kathy died in August 2019, a New Yorker documentary film was made about Kim, Kathy, and their son Greyson. Kimberly is coming to Ireland as part of Palliative Care week, and I was so happy to catch up with her this week ahead of her trip.To support the podcast and access bonus episodes, join the community on Patreon here.
