I know, there will be loads of you who are already huge fans but I didn't know a lot about Hannah Tyrrell ahead of leading a panel she was on for IWD this year. Once I began my research, though, I was blown away. Not only has she won a women's football All-Ireland with Dublin, she's also won the Six Nations with Ireland's Women's Rugby team. Aside from that, she's passionate about equality and mental health, all while being generous enough to share her own experience with mental illness in the hope that it might help someone else. I was so grateful that she took the time to chat to me this week in her home in Dublin so that you guys could hear from her too. I hope you enjoy.

385. Catch Up with Daire Dempsey of TENI
01:15:00||Season 1, Ep. 385When we talked about the National Gender Service during the news episode on Monday it occurred to me that it might be a good idea to find out more about what exactly trans people in Ireland are facing when it comes to accessing gender affirming care. Fortunately, Daire Dempsey, Executive Director of the Transgender Equality Network of Ireland was generous enough to give me their time and fill me in on what the reality is. I knew it was bad, but it's actually worse than I thought, but there is hope. This one isn't short, but I didn't want to edit out any of the challenges being faced by Irish people, and I think its important that we educate ourselves on the challenges our trans brothers and sisters are facing so I hope you're up for dedicating a bit of time to that today.NOTE: For some reason static started appearing in the background of the episode as we recorded, so halfway through you'll hear a shift in the audio as we changed platforms.
