In this episode Aideen & Louisa chat with Dr. Edward Madigan, a  Senior Lecturer in Public History and World War One, specialising in the cultural and military history of the British and Irish experiences and memories of the First World War. We spoke to him to discuss the importance of commemorating history, the effect of nostalgia on the public and British attitudes towards the Irish war of independence and Ireland in general Dr. Edward Madigan directs the MA in Public History and the London Centre for Public History and Heritage. Before joining the history faculty at Royal Holloway, he served as the resident historian at the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.
