Pacifica Football Team Falls Short in State Championship Game: A Tale of Third-Down Efficiency and Resilience
In a highly anticipated CIF state one-A bowl game, the Oxnard Pacifica football team faced off against Fresno Central East, ultimately losing by a score of forty-two to twenty-eight. Despite a strong effort, Pacifica couldnt overcome Central Easts powerful offense. The game at Saddleback College showcased both teams high-octane offenses, with Pacifica scoring first but Central East tying the game and taking a fourteen to seven lead before halftime.
Coach Mike Moon attributed the loss to third-down efficiency, noting that Central East made crucial plays while Pacifica struggled to convert. Pacifica tied the game at fourteen all in the second half but couldnt keep pace with Central Easts scoring. Central East sealed the victory with a late touchdown run, marking the end of Pacificas fifteen and one season. Despite not securing the state championship, Pacifica has achieved two section and two regional crowns in the past two years. Coach Moon remains optimistic, emphasizing the growth opportunity for younger players and their aim to return next year.
