The events taking place at various locations in Cork West and Cork East, next week.. Its been reported that meat factories have been fined for twenty-one breaches of EU trimming regulations. The Irish Farmers Journal broke the story in the December 1st. 2018 issue of the Journal. One of the authors of the IFJ report, Phelim O'Neill EU and International Markets Specialist, talks to Farm Talk Programme Editor, John O'Connor, about how the trimmings issue was uncovered.. Mr. O'Neill suggests the factories might ease the current anger of farmers by opting for more transparency in dealing with their clients , the farmers.. John Coughlan, IFA Munster Regional Chairman calls for the factories which have been the subject of the twenty-one fines to be identified..Otherwise all factories risk being under a cloud because farmers do not know which factories might be offending against EU Trimming Regulations.. Also covered, an ICA statement on the recent allocation of funding for the sheep sector and an INHFA call for a more equitable distribution of CAP funding. The IFA speak out about water pollution caused, allegedly, by households, but recognise the important contribution farmers can make to ensuring best quality water....
