Bite sized interviews with photographers

Janyne Fletcher feels proud and privileged to have the backdrop of Central Otago for inspiration. Janyne has been photographing professionally since 2006 and specialises in high-quality fine art photography which she prints, frames, and sells from her Ranfurly workshop and gallery. Janyne’s work is a creative and contemporary interpretation of the beautiful landscape that surrounds her and she captures its beauty to create unique pieces of art. Framed by her artistic instincts, she constructs a canvas of moments and memories—evocative, reflective, compelling. It’s more than simply documenting what she sees. It’s a candid imprint of thoughts and feelings. Janyne has had a long connection with photography and she has been inspired to branch out from a traditional photography business to the area of creative fine art and landscape photography. Janyne established her gallery five years ago. This is a working gallery and an approachable but professional space that reflects her relaxed approach to life and living in Central Otago. Buying or not, Janyne likes to show customers artworks they might enjoy, creating the best possible experience and sharing the provenance of Central Otago.Janyne was the winner of the 2019 NZIPP Landscape photographer of the Year, finalist for 2019 NZ Photographer of the Year, winner 2019 APPA international Photographer of the Year, two time Otago/Southland Regional Photographer of the Year, seven time NZIPP Iris Awards category finalist and a Grand Master of the NZIPP. In 2021 Janyne was the winner of the Creative Arts Category of the NZI NZ Rural Women Business Awards.

On this episode of Burst Mode, meet Glen Howey, energy and passion personified! Here's Glen in his own words: "I find landscape photography simply exhilarating. It takes my breath away. New Zealand offers an expansive terrain and the most dramatic seasonal changes. I moved to Queenstown in 2018 to get amongst it. But you won’t find me flying in by helicopter. I take time to walk in, sometimes for days on end. Immersing myself in the landscape gives me a sense of the life force of the land. This, with a reverence for the natural light of an enormous changing sky, fuels my passion. My goal is to share these landscapes as centrepiece artworks that transport the viewer, again and again, to the most incredible moments in time at the most incredible landmarks." Enjoy!

Rebecca Kempton is a multi award winning professional photographer who lives in Greytown, Wairarapa where she runs her successful full time photography business. She holds a Master of Photography with Distinction with the NZIPP. Rebecca lives and breathes photography and her camera isn’t ever far from her hands. She mainly shoots commercial work and family portraiture for local Wairarapa businesses and families and has a real passion for documentary style photography as well as shooting the landscape at all times of the day and night.

’m Jase Blair, a professional photographer, drone pilot, writer, and adventure seeker based on Te Tai o Poutini / the West Coast. I’ve been photographing professionally for about 15 years. I like to spend my spare time in the hills as much as possible, climbing, skiing, mountain biking, trail running, and generally exploring the incredible natural environment of The Coast, and further afield. Primarily a commercial and adventure photographer, my work includes both video and still imagery, as well as graphic design and illustration. I am a Master of the NZ Institute of Professional Photography, and an Accredited Commercial Photographer.
