The Brunton Bugle - A Carlisle United Podcast

Bristol Rovers (A) Preview - Season 23/24, Episode 34

Season 4, Ep. 34

Things are going from bad to worse for United in their battle to avoid the drop - seven defeats in a row, is there any hope at all for the Blues to stay in League One next season.

In this week's episode of The Brunton Bugle, Lee and Dan look back on the hugely disappointing 4-0 defeat to Cambridge United, where United's defensive fragility was exposed once again. Can Paul Simpson restore the confidence to his squad ahead of the final run-in?

There's then a look ahead to this weekend's trip south to face Bristol Rovers - we speak to Charlie from the Talking Gas Podcast about what has been an eventful season for the Gas, albeit one that has them comfortably sitting in mid-table (sounds dreamy!).

On top of that, there's a news round-up and the usual Ex-Blues update.

Your host Lee Rooney is in Liverpool and is joined via the wonders of the internet by Dan MacLennan in Carlisle. You can find us on Twitter @bruntonbugle, Facebook (search for "Brunton Bugle") and email us with any questions, suggestions and feedback to bruntonbugle@gmail.com.

    01:40:23|
A Merry Christmas to all Bugle listeners across the world - this episode is a late present to you all, helping fill the gap left by the lack of regular episodes out during the Christmas perineum (do not Google that). To help us with this, we've got a special guest on for two special episodes during this period - award-winning United reporter for the News & Star and Cumberland News, Jon Colman!Next year will see Jon celebrate 20 years of covering the Blues and it's fair to say, he's seen a lot during that time - two promotions, two relegations, three play-off campaigns, three Wembley visits and eleven different managers. So for part one, we decided to ask him for his top 5 games covered as United reporter - and totally unprompted, he also offered up his worst 5 too (well, we're all masochists as Carlisle United fans, aren't we?).It was a real pleasure to take a trip down memory-lane with Jon, who offered some real insight into what it's like reporting on the Blues and some of the moments of drama (and the downright dreadful) that have caught his imagination down the years. Sit back and enjoy! You can follow Jon on X/Twitter - @joncolman - and subscribe to his bonus content on the News and Star website, which is well worth a few quid of your money each month.-------------------Find us on X (@bruntonbugle), Facebook (search for "Brunton Bugle") and Instagram (@bruntonbugle)You can email us with any questions, suggestions and feedback at bruntonbugle@gmail.com.-------------------We’re delighted to confirm that the Carlisle United Supporters Trust (CUST) will be sponsoring the Brunton Bugle this season.CUST, formed originally in 2001 as CCUIST and later known as CUOSC, is the supporters' trust for Carlisle United.
