In the first of this 2-part conversation, we get to meet Cameron and John as they speak about their general experiences with powerlifting, Cameron being a world record breaker in the junior division and John being a high-level powerlifting and strength coach.

Then our crew talks about the sport of powerlifting and its divisions, inevitably touching on the performance-enhancing drugs as well as the ‘clean’ federations. John then shares his typical approach to programming for aspiring powerlifters and managing the stress on the central nervous system. He continues on to share about knowing your athlete on a personal and meaningful level so as to be most effective as a coach and as a team.

Further into the podcast, Cameron shares about how he handles rehab and recovery on a weekly routine, and then John elaborates a little on how athletes can get a little more serious and take their progress to the next level.

Our crew then touches a little more on nutrition: timing, quality, and cutting weight. Then also deal with the first impression of powerlifters being fat, strong guys just eating whatever and finally Cameron goes into his specifics in terms of how he handles himself in this regard.
