  • 5. Talking Menopause with Dr Olivia Hum and Amy White

    58:58
This month our radio show is all about the Menopause, what it means for everyone - not just the 13million women impacted. That's a third of the population and yet we are still struggling to get women the right information, medication and recognition. Women are hungry for information, but we need everyone to understand this natural change and the impact it can have on how women work, interact and live their lives. Which for many has been to hide, leave jobs and end relationships. But it doesn't have to be this way. Thanks to Davina McCall the conversation around menopause has exploded. How do we know what information to trust, and what to expect if you are a woman over 40? And how can businesses support those going through it to retain and nurture brilliant female talent? We asked these questions and so many more with our amazing guests Dr Olivia Hum and Amy White looking at the topic from both a medical perspective, and also a legal perspective with an increase in grievances in the workplace related to menopausal women. Key Takeaways➡️Not all women will be impacted by the menopause➡️It's not just about educating those who are impacted physically, it's about the whole ecosystem around women to be present, engaged and supportive in the conversation (young, old, all genders - everyone!)➡️The British Menopause Society has qualified information (much provide by Dr Olivia herself) and is a trusted source for individuals and medical practitionersGPs are still learning about menopause, if you have been going to the doctor and not getting the support you need please keep knocking their doors down to be heard, use the symptom checkers online to support the conversation➡️As an employer, look at your policies and how you can offer home/hybrid working options to be flexible around symptoms for your female workforce and engage your WHOLE workforce on the policyThanks so much to our guests, we could have talked for hours on this so will look at how we can continue the conversation on future episodes -Dr Olivia Hum runs the Myla Health clinic, providing treatment and education to individuals, organisations and those within the medical community ➡️ Women's Health & Menopause Specialist GPs | Myla HealthAmy White is Head of Learning & Training at Loch Associates, Employment & HR Law specialists ➡️ www.lochassociates.co.ukListen in to the show each week at RadioReverb 97.2FM www.radioreverb.com let us know what you think, what topics you'd like to hear and what your takeaways are - personally, or professionally.Listen back to the Show HERE 👉 https://shows.acast.com/brighton-business-showLet us know what you think and what other topics you want us to cover on the show.Lyndsey & Sam Thomas Brighton Business Show Produced by H2 Productions
