David Arquette will join fans for a 30th anniversary screening of “Scream” at 7 p.m. Oct. 14 in the Fine Arts Theatre at The Monument. The screening will be followed by a conversation and audience question-and-answer session with the actor, who played Dewey Riley in the film series.

In an interview with Brandon Jones of Homeslice Media Group, Arquette said he looks forward to revisiting the 1996 film with an audience and sharing memories from the set, including stories about director Wes Craven.

“There’s a lot of laughter. There’s a lot of fun,” Arquette said. “It’s a really light, fun, exciting night.”

Arquette said fans often remember details of the movie better than he does. Watching it again brings back memories, he said, while reminding him how much his life has changed since its release. He went on to play Dewey for 25 years, an opportunity he called unusual for an actor.

The conversation also turned to Arquette’s family, whose acting history stretches back to vaudeville. Arquette said he learned to find unscripted moments in his performances partly from watching his father’s work in improvisation. He said he enjoys seeing a younger generation of the family begin acting, while recognizing the rejection that comes with auditions.

“You just kind of have to keep hustling and keep doing, not let anything get you down,” he said.
