Getting ready to explore Undermine in WoW patch 11.1

Ep. 518

This week's podcast is all about the fun new stuff that just hit WoW with patch 11.1 and Undermine. The Everlasting Nogginfogger was a popular topic, as was the overall Goblin mystique -- and the IRL hot rod Blizzard made last week. We also delved into Delves, the new rares we'll be killing -- or taming! -- and the new cool campfire scenes players can select for their Warbands.

We also discuss Heroes of the Storm and its influence on the rest of Blizzard's games. If you're a regular listener, you know that means Cory is guest hosting this week. He recommends Creepy Redneck Dinosaur Mansion 3 if you're looking to sample a game demo during Steam Next Fest, and said so three times fast, like Beetlejuice only slightly more cursed. And yes, that is a real game.

Also, if you're wondering what the best soundtrack is to get your Golds on the Kalimdor Cup now that that's back, we have some ideas.

  • 537. Goodbye Warcraft Rumble

    01:08:20||Ep. 537
    Ghosts of K'aresh and its newly announced release date were the first topic in this week's Blizzard Watch Podcast, which is likely to be the final patch for this expansion. Story spoilers weren't shared, but we are excited to find out where we're going next. Our guest host Cory joined us since he's one of our resident Warcraft Rumble experts, and unfortunately that skill set is considerably less in demand since we got word Rumble is in maintenance mode. And it just wouldn't be a Blizzard Watch Podcast without a complaint about monetization these days, but King Krush is so cute, and so expensive, and so gamble-y. Plus, we're all about Summer Games Done Quick and the wacky hijinks those speedrunners get into -- including Blue Prince!
  • 536. Too much transmog, too little time

    01:12:22||Ep. 536
    This week's Blizzard Watch Podcast begins with a discussion of several of the raccoons currently in the WoW trenchcoat -- Mists of Pandaria Classic is imminent, and there's a whole bunch of new stuff coming to retail WoW, from the Trading Post seasonal turnover to the Greedy Emissary event. And the best news is, almost all of it involves adding to our transmog collections in one way or another. The next Diablo 4 season started, and while we're still pretty cold on the whole new Reliquary system we are emphatically pro cute baby goats regardless of how they're obtained (even if it's Reliquaries). Plus, we have thoughts on the GI Joe and Overwatch 2 collaboration. And speaking of all of the above, the Steam Summer Sale is on, so you could also spend less cash on more game. That's an option. at least, until July 10. Unfortunately, no transmog there.
  • 535. Ghosts of K'aresh, from Tazavesh to Manaforge Omega

    58:12||Ep. 535
    Ghosts of K'aresh, the upcoming content update for World of Warcraft, is the lead news for the show this week, because it was announced with a ton of detail the day after the podcast was recorded last week. Led by this week's host Joe, our crew discussed all things patch 11.2, from Tazavesh to Manaforge Omega, and where the story might lead us next. Speaking of the story, Overwatch 2 season 17 just began, and we have some thoughts, mostly related to story content and how there really isn't any.Plus, if you have $158, or even more Canadian dollarydoos, you could totally buy the most adorable, most infuriatingly monetized lil guy we've ever seen in Hearthstone. Blizzard literally told us the first gatcha is free.
  • 534. Lorewalking and Timewalking and Delves, oh my!

    01:04:19||Ep. 534
    We had two special guests this week: Phil Ulrich and Nick Marino were on hand to discuss the launch of patch 11.1.7. From Lorewalking to Timewalking to Overcharged Delves to the new one-button feature, there is a ton of stuff to discuss in patch 11.1.7. But of course, WoW isn't the only game with a ton of stuff going on. Overwatch 2 just put out a ton of information about their next season, and there's a new Hearthstone expansion dropping next month. The team as a whole is Team Valentina during the amazing Turtles vs Lizards Hearthstone competition stream, which is really worth a watch.Plus, Joe's flabbers are ghasted over the Steam Fishing Fest.
  • 533. Our Summer Game Fest faves

    01:05:56||Ep. 533
    While we did want to discuss some Blizzard news this week -- including the frankly hilarious Dastardly Duos shirt bug -- the biggest news of the week was the reams of announcements and trailers that came out of Summer Game Fest. From The Outer Worlds 2 to Failbetter's next offering, the farm sim Mandrake, to Relooted, a hate letter to the British Museum, there were games on display for tons of different playstyles and genres and vibes. We ran through some of our favorite games and showcases, because man were there a lot of them to get through.Plus, paradoxically, Diablo 4 is adding the cutest baby goats we've ever seen in our lives to the game. Just roll with it and hope nothing bad happens to them. Also, there won't be an LFR in Mists of Pandaria Classic.
  • 532. Pride month kicks off and Heroes of the Storm turns 10

    01:10:14||Ep. 532
    This week our writer Nick Marino joined the lineup to talk about WoW Classic -- several iterations of it. Joyous Journeys is coming back to Cata Classic, Mists Classic is launching soon, and Season of Discovery servers will keep on truckin', even if all the Discoveries have already been Discovered. Plus, Heroes of the Storm turns 10 and there's a whole bunch of new stuff to celebrate, including a new skin. Overwatch 2 is celebrating LGBTQIA+ Pride for Pride Month. Oh, and by the way, Hearthstone announced a whole entire new expansion, it launches next week. Plus, we run down some of the Summer Games Fest events we have our eye on, and we'll talk more about our favorite reveals next week.Not only was this week busy, but next week will also be pretty jam packed. Bring it on.
  • 531. Mists of Pandaria Classic brings one more Classic into the WoW trenchcoat

    01:00:41||Ep. 531
    During this week's Blizzard Watch Podcast, the conversation started off with WoW, specifically the upcoming Mists of Pandaria Classic, and just how many Classics there are now. Cory was our guest host, so of course they had to talk Heroes of the Storm for a little while. It's like a rule of the internet, like how you are legally obligated to repost that one video of Tom Holland doing Umbrella if you see it in the wild. Plus, there's all the upcoming stuff for the next Diablo 4season Sins of the Horadrim, like Horadric Spellcasting and Escalating Nightmares, both of which just sound like something Diablo 4 would bring to the table.
  • 530. Horrific Re-Visions and (another) player housing preview

    01:06:33||Ep. 530
    This week's Blizzard Watch Podcast kicks off with the new hotness -- or maybe old hotness. Horrific Visions return this week in World of Warcraft. There are head enchants to collect, but no keys, which is great news for people who did these back in the day. The new player housing preview from a smattering of other content creators with an emphasis on neighborhoods has us revisiting the possibility of a player housing HOA. Plus, which Blizzard character would make the best WWE wrestler? One thing's for sure -- nobody's breaking kayfabe in this match.
  • 529. Legion Remix and more wild speculation

    01:05:58||Ep. 529
    In this week's podcast we talked about the reveals from the WoW team that came out of PAX East. Legion Remix has us particularly excited, but nothing is as exciting as the wild speculation we can do about those upcoming quote-unquote "experimental modes." Plus, Clair Obscur's wild success -- and the wild? success that was Heroes of the Storm. And speaking of wild, we need to sit down and have a talk about Brann.
