Jo Prendergast - "Living with Lipoedema"

Season 12, Ep. 3

This week on the podcast, I’m delighted to be joined by content creator, beauty expert, and lipedema spokesperson, Jo Prendergast.

Lipedema / Lipoedema is a chronic medical condition characterised by a symmetrical and abnormal build-up of fat, most commonly in the legs and arms, while typically sparing the hands and feet. Often triggered by hormonal changes, the condition can cause significant pain, easy bruising, and is resistant to traditional diet and exercise.

In this honest and inspiring conversation, Jo shares her experience of living with lipedema from a very young age, the challenges she faced seeking answers and treatment, and her courageous journey to Germany to undergo life-changing surgery.

Jo’s story is one of resilience, self-advocacy, and hope. Through sharing her experience, she is helping to raise awareness of a condition that remains widely misunderstood and under diagnosed, while empowering others to seek the support and treatment they deserve.

A powerful reminder that knowledge, courage, and self-belief can transform even the most difficult journey.
