In a very honest and open conversation, Al has said alcohol played a large role in his behavior in 2017 when he was accused of inappropriately touching men, leading to a complete end to his career overnight. The comedian, who is now sober for over three years, said he had a sense that the wheels were coming off and that he was far too immature for the speed of his rise to fame. After some very dark days, feeling suicidal and spending time in hospital, he accepts that people had every right to call him out. Whilst he didn't think he was being a bad person at the time, Al has since learned that his actions were inappropriate. After working on himself for 6 years, Al never wants to repeat the past and as he says himself, he has the rest of his life to live as a good person. Al admitted that he is trying to make amends with people over time, and has written letters to some, but some people didn’t want them. This is a very raw and difficult conversation. Al tells us in great detail every thought and emotion he was feeling at the time and also explains all the work he has done over the last 6 years to become a better person.
