Between You And Me - A Podcast About Marillion
A Slap In The Face
Ep. 41
•
What should've been a regular postbag episode, featuring your opinions about the album Radiation, turned into something considerably more passionate, when one email reopened some old Marillion wounds. Why exactly did Paul come close to turning his back on the band in the 1990s?
This might be the most raw and emotional episode of BYAMPOD to date...

01:12:55||Ep. 153Hello, BYAMtches. Well, it’s the final part of our look at Marillion's F.E.A.R. plus… a big announcement at the end that we know some of you will be saddened by. Alas, this is the final regular episode of BYAMPOD. We've had a good run, but we feel now is the time. We explain more in the episode. If you'd like to send us an email or voice-note for our very last episode, our email is byampod@gmail.comWatch us at the Brave bridge: https://youtu.be/s_tHAS1YzbE?si=c20Z35YP55Xn_f3h
152. You Can Do Anything With Computers
02:21:07||Ep. 152This has been the hardest ep of BYAMPOD ever to put together. It's another experiment with Suno, throwing new light on some Marillion old songs using some of the website's new features - but we take a different approach to last time. We tried to bring new life to some pre-EMI demos, and reimagined the back catalogue in wildly different ways to shed new light on the music. It's further terrifying evidence of what AI can do... but also, reassuringly, a demonstration of what it can'tyet do and probably never will. We'd never take an AI Marillion - or any musician - over the real thing. The fact this ep has taken days to make shows just how limited it is. It's also an epic of an episode, so you might want to break it up. ..
151. F.E.A.R. - Part 2
01:38:06||Ep. 151Paul's recovering from a migraine this week, but that doesn't stop us from delving into tracks 2 and 3 from Marillion's F.E.A.R. album - Living In FEAR and The Leavers!
150. F.E.A.R. - Part 1
02:10:45||Ep. 150Unsolicited opinions? Check. Bickering? Check. Inaccurate and unflattering impressions of band members? Check. Talking about a popular Marillion track in eye-wateringly excruciating detail? Check. Irreverent tangents, misunderstandings and wild speculation about the meaning of lyrics? Check, check, and check! It's our bumper 150th episode, and it's stuffed full of everything you've come to know, love, and - at least some of you - hate about BYAMPOD! Thanks for being on the journey with us.
149. The Future of Music...
01:08:47||Ep. 149We should all be worried about the next few years, and how the way we consume media and entertainment is going to completely transform. With AI able to produce new music in seconds - is the future of real music in jeopardy? And what does it mean for Marillion?Consider a donation to Help Musicians: https://www.helpmusicians.org.uk/
148. MarilA.I.on
01:33:15||Ep. 148We're taking a breather from F.E.A.R. for a week, given all the heavy subject matter in recent episodes. It wasn't the plan, but this BYAMPOD became about the potential impact of AI on music. Brace yourselves for some VERY different versions of your favourite Marillion songs...
147. The Road To F.E.A.R. - Part 2
01:14:52||Ep. 147If you skip the first 20 or so minutes, this episode settles down into a fun chat about some of the origins surrounding Marillion's F.E.A.R. album. However, it's hard to discuss the topics this album covers without touching on politics to some degree. And so, for better or worse, we do...
146. The Road To F.E.A.R. - Part 1
01:18:48||Ep. 146This episode we dig into the potential impact of AI on the music industry before tackling the thorny issue of whether Marillion has ever been a political band - and if they'd be able to release the track Gaza in the current climate... It's the beginning of the road to F.E.A.R...!
145. Steve Rothery's Gento Reviewed!
01:16:16||Ep. 145We're taking a look at Gento's Bioscope, the new album from Steve Rothery. Plus! We compare the setlists from the 2023 and 2025 Marillion Weekends and ask... which was better?Email us! byampod@gmail.comWatch us on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@PaulAndSanjaSupport us on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/c/MrBiffo
