Mick Harford - The Luton Town Legend

Season 1, Ep. 4

Behind the Dugout Podcast shines a light on what goes on behind the scenes in the football world. We will talk to people from the beautiful game, and hear their stories, what really goes on, unfiltered and in their own words...

IN THIS EPISODE: MICK HARFORD

Luton Town legend Mick Harford is best known for his exploits both on the pitch and in the dugout. The powerful forward was instrumental to the Hatter’s success in the second half of the 1980s. He was part of the squad that beat Arsenal to the 1988 League Cup and then reached the final the following year, losing to Nottingham Forest. Mick talks to us about growing up as a die-hard Sunderland fan, the rise of Luton Town and his fearsome reputation as a ‘hard man’. He shares insight into the toughest defenders, best strike partners and how it felt to be called up by England. Having met the test of going from playing to management, Mick now faces his biggest battle to date with a recent prostate cancer diagnosis and aims to raise awareness about symptoms, encouraging men to get checked.
