Scottish Myth - The Brownie
This episode: The Brownie; Mastermind Topics; Face Waxing & Spyro.
Once upon a time, comedians Fiona Ridgewell & Louise Atkinson started a podcast exploring fairy tales, folklore, myths, and legends. But, these aren't the nice, fluffy versions of the stories everyone knows and loves. They're the original, darker, sordid ones from long ago, paired with some of the silly goings on in their lives.
In this episode, Fiona & Louise look at the Scottish mythical creature, the Brownie. Also known as a brùnaidh or gruagach in Scots Gaelic, a Brownie (or Brounie) is a good-natured type of hobgoblin from folklore that is said to inhabit houses and to come out at night while the owners of the house are asleep and perform various chores and farming tasks.
Louise & Fiona also talk about Fiona's singing career, face waxing, and the subjects they would do if they went on Mastermind; spoiler, they're not highbrow topics.
Give it a listen and please like & subscribe on Youtube, Spotify or wherever you get your podcasts. Now, in the words of Giambattista Basile, from his story The Enchanted Doe - shut your mouths, open your ears and hear what I shall tell you. Hope you enjoy! :-)
