  • It's Getting Hot in Here

    01:06:10|
    Things are heating up in the tent! 🌴☀️For Week 3 of The Great Canadian Baking Show, the bakers took on Tropical Week! The Signature Challenge was a tropical-flavoured flan cake, the Technical was one of Lisa’s all-time favourite bakes to make at home, with a few added twists, and the Showstopper was a towering Pavlova stack that came with its own set of challenges. Thankfully, all the bakers rose to the occasion!Along the way, one mystery ingredient had us breaking into song, and we had a wonderful time recapping all the tropical flavours, baking triumphs, and tent drama with the Fabulous Baker Boyz. Naturally, we dressed for the occasion!Listen to our Week 3 recap of The Great Canadian Baking Show with Baking Scraps and the Fabulous Baker Boyz. It’s definitely getting hot in the tent this week! 🔥
  • It's Out of This World

    01:08:56|
    We’re back with our recap of Week 2 of The Great Canadian Baking Show! After missing last week’s episode because of Thanksgiving, Lisa, Cristina, and the Fabulous Baker Boyz, Vincent Chan and Steven Levitt, are reunited and ready to talk all things Milk & Cookies.First up, the bakers made a dozen dunkers with a dunking sauce, and we loved the variety and creativity on display. Then came the technical challenge: Maamoul Mad Bil Ashta, a Lebanese dessert that had us debating whether it even counts as a cookie when it’s essentially served in squares. We also had some strong opinions about orange blossom water, with Lisa firmly in the hate camp and Vincent happily on the love side. At least we could all agree that the bakers did a fantastic job!For the showstopper, the bakers created Milky Way cookie displays featuring two different kinds of cookies and incorporating milk in some way. There were some seriously good bakes, plenty to discuss, and lots of fun catching up with each other after our Thanksgiving hiatus.Of course, we had to say goodbye to another baker, which is always the hardest part. And don’t worry, we’re already back at it: our Week 3 Tropical Week recap drops tomorrow!Join us for all the baking talk, opinions, disagreements, and love for the best part of baking.
  • It's a Ten Out of Ten

    01:25:44|
    Ten seasons, ten brand-new bakers, and one Chai-normous Cake Week!The Great Canadian Baking Show is back for its milestone 10th season, and the Tent has never looked sweeter. After hanging up their podcasting aprons and declaring themselves retired from regular episodes, Lisa and Cristina couldn’t stay away when Canada’s favourite baking show hit its tenth season. Just as they’ve done for the past two seasons, they’re back to recap all the highs, lows, triumphs, near-misses and game-changing decisions in the Tent. And as usual, they’ve brought reinforcements: the Fabulous Baker Boyz, Steven Levitt and Vincent Chan from Season 5 of The Great Canadian Baking Show. Together, the four bring their expert thoughts, insider perspectives and very strong opinions to every bake, wobble and buttercream emergency (and don't forget the fashion!).What better way to kick off a decade of Canadian baking than with a classic Cake Week? The Signature Challenge sends the bakers back to Season 1 with a nostalgic Battenberg cake, putting their precision, patience and creativity to the test. Next up is a distinctly Canadian Technical: a Nanaimo Bar Cheesecake that has the bakers navigating a delicious mash-up of two iconic treats. And for the Showstopper, it’s all about "10", with each baker challenged to create a spectacular interpretation of the number and reveal what a decade of The Great Canadian Baking Show means to them.There are stunning creations, ambitious ideas, first-week nerves and enough big beautiful bakes to make the Tent feel even smaller. As the new bakers find their feet, early frontrunners emerge, dreams begin to rise and the first Star Baker of Season 10 is crowned.So grab a slice, settle in and join Lisa, Cristina, Steven and Vincent as The Baking Scraps come out of retirement for one very special mission: recapping another season of The Great Canadian Baking Show. Ten years of the best show on CBC deserves a proper celebration...and we’re just getting started!

    01:26:42||Season 4, Ep. 10
    Today’s episode of Baking Scraps is a little different and so much fun!We opened up the inbox and read your baking confessions, and wow, you all did not disappoint. Kitchen disasters. Secret shortcuts. Guilty pleasures, recipe fails, and the little things bakers never admit out loud. This episode is full of laughs and the kind of chaos only fellow bakers truly understand!Some of these confessions had us shocked, some had us absolutely howling, and a few were way too relatable.And just when we thought the listeners had shared it all, Lisa had a little baking confession of her own that she was almost too ashamed to admit on air. You are definitely going to want to hear that one.If you’ve ever burned a cake, licked the spatula before serving, pretended something was “rustic,” or quietly used a boxed mix, this one is for you.
