Coach Charlie Melton ASE, our usual expert host, has has gone fishin’ today so we’ve brought in our regular contributor Casey Williams, Auto Casey from YouTube. We talk about all the safety features new cars have such as Collision Mitigating Braking System and Lane Keeping Assist Systems.


  • 2021 and 2022 variants of the Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe, and GMC Yukon and Yukon XL for Faulty rivets on the seat belt assembly.
  • 2022 — Ford Maverick. In July there was a recall for a potential engine compartment fire risk, now it’s side curtain airbags.
  • Various Ferraris from the last 17 model years Recalled for Risk of Brake Failure
  • Some 2019-22 Mitsubishi Outlander Sports Recalled for Stalling Issue

You can find out if your car has a past recall by going to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s website: and inputting your VIN number. Or find their SaferCar app.


On August 16th, The Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 was enacted and amends the Qualified Plug-in Electric Drive Motor Vehicle Credit (IRC 30D). Now known as the Clean Vehicle Credit, it adds a new requirement for final assembly in North America. Additional provisions will go into effect on January 1, 2023. Further guidance on these provisions is forthcoming. Find more information about the credit from the Internal Revenue Service.
