Arsecast Extra Episode 364 - 27.07.2020
•
The Premier League season is over and we look back on the final day victory over Watford, in what was a fairly meaningless game for us. There's discussion of Kieran Tierney's first Arsenal goal, David Luiz conceding another penalty and setting a record in the process, and we reflect on an 8th placed finish overall. We're glad to see the back of the season, and lessons have to be learned, but we try to end part 1 with some positives to take from this campaign. In part 2 we answer listener questions about our central defensive options and what on earth we can do about them. We pick our FA Cup final team, do some Aubameyang/Arsenal role play over his future, Ozil and his likely absence from Wembley, how to stop Olivier Giroud and loads more.

01:23:59|In this episode we look back at the 2-2 draw with Aston Villa on Saturday evening. We discuss getting ourselves into a winning position thanks to goals from Gabriel Martinelli and Kai Havertz, before letting it slip and allowing Villa back into it. There's analysis of the goals we conceded and the defensive issues, including Thomas Partey at right-back and what other options Mikel Arteta might have had available to him. Then attention turns to what we had, or didn't have on the bench, and how this result feels in the context of this season. We then have listener questions about the transfer market and the owners, signing a defender, what not winning might mean for Mikel Arteta among the fanbase, and lots more.Get extra bonus content and help support Arseblog by becoming an Arseblog Member on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/arseblogArsenal Women Arsecast 105: Renee Slegers exclusive

01:01:17|In this episode I'm joined by Phil Costa to look back on last night's 2-1 win in the North London derby. After two cup defeats Arsenal had to respond, and the job was made more difficult after falling behind in the 25th minute. However, we dug deep, and found two quick goals towards the end of the first half which helped us to three points. We chat about those strikes, Leandro Trossard's instinctive finishing ability, a superb performance from 18 year old Myles Lewis-Skelly, how this result should help galvanise the fanbase after we closed the gap on Liverpool in the title race, and lots more besides.Follow Phil on BlueSky - @philcosta.bsky.socialGet extra bonus content and help support Arseblog by becoming an Arseblog Member on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/arseblogArsecast Extra Episode 621 - 13.01.2025
01:37:46|In this episode we look back at the FA Cup third round penalty shoot-out defeat to Man Utd on Sunday. We discuss the first half injury to Gabriel Jesus, the goal we conceded, the red card for Dalot, and how Arsenal had the chances to win the game but couldn't put the ball in the back of the net with Odegaard and Havertz especially culpable in that sense. We also analyse the penalty shoot-out which didn't go our way, assess the mood after two cup defeats in a week, before we talk about Mikel Arteta's post-game comments and then answer listener questions about our style of play, the need for January business if Jesus is injured long-term, how the summer signings should be viewed now that we're 6 months into the season, and lots more besides.Get extra bonus content and help support Arseblog by becoming an Arseblog Member on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/arseblogEpisode 813 - A familiar story
57:40|In this episode I'm joined by Harry Symeou from The Chronicles of a Gooner to look back at the 2-0 defeat to Newcastle in the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg. There's a lot of focus on what Arsenal are lacking in the final third, particularly against a team that sit deep as they did when they got 2-0 up. We discuss the variance in quality between our forwards and theirs on the night, what we can do to address it with the players we have and in the transfer market, the goals we conceded and how we could have done better, where it leaves the tie and lots more – including thoughts on the January transfer window and reports linking Tomas Rosicky to the job of Sporting Director.Follow The Chronicle of a Gooner on YouTube here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCbDo0kye_J-N0TkQoBTPSjAGet extra bonus content and help support Arseblog by becoming an Arseblog Member on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/arseblogArsecast Extra Episode 620 - 06.01.2025
01:29:54|In this episode we look back at the 1-1 draw with Brighton on Saturday evening. A solid first half saw us go in 1-0 up at the break thanks to Ethan Nwaneri's excellent goal, but a contentious second half penalty provided the home with the equaliser. We analyse the decision to award the spot kick, as well as what Arsenal did/didn't do afterwards as a depleted squad struggled to find a winner. That leads to a big discussion about the January window in the context of our league position and the other competitions we're in, as well as listener questions about the two cup ties we face this week, whether Arsenal are 'boring' this season, time-wasting and yellow cards, Dani Olmo's situation, and lots more.Get extra bonus content and help support Arseblog by becoming an Arseblog Member on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/arseblogArsecast Extra Episode 619 - 02.01.2025

We discuss team selection, going behind and the way we reacted to that, the importance of goals from Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli right now, how we controlled things at 3-1 up, an impressive first Premier League start for Ethan Nwaneri, and how this was a fine collective effort from the Gunners to take all three points. Then we answer listener questions about who plays right back against Brighton with Jurrien Timber suspended and if we might make a sneaky defensive signing in January, William Saliba's contract with Real Madrid reportedly sniffing around, Mikel Merino and his role in the team, contract extensions for our veteran central midfielders, and lots more.Get extra bonus content and help support Arseblog by becoming an Arseblog Member on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/arseblogArsenal Women Arsecast 103: Women’s Football Content with Flo Lloyd Hughes
