Arsecast Extra Episode 704 - 21.07.2026

•

In this episode James is back in London after his spell in Chicago, and we begin by talking about the World Cup final in which Spain beat Argentina and pretty much everyone outside of Argentina was happy about that. We have some reflections on the tournament as a whole, before we discuss the Morgan Rogers news and his decision to join Chelsea when he was strongly tipped to join Arsenal this summer. We chat about how it played out, whether the price paid is too high, and if we need to be more flexible in a summer market where prices have been skewed massively by some high profile deals. We wonder how Mikel Arteta will react to not getting a key target, how the club might pivot to other options now that this deal is done, and talk about slight developments in the Bruno Guimaraes pursuit. In part two we answer listener questions about Myles Lewis-Skelly, whether our negotiating style is an impediment to being able to sell well, Ferran Torres, and lots more – including James' deep dish pizza update.

  • Episode 897: On and off the pitch

    01:04:38|
In this episode I'm joined by Andrew Allen to discuss the 3-0 win over Lille in the Champions League. We chat about the manager's team selection, and his comments about Noni Madueke and volume, before we discuss a decent – if not great – first half, and the way Arsenal changed things in the second period. There's some focus on Jurrien Timber after his excellent goal, as well as Eberechi Eze hopefully kick-starting his season, and increasing the technical level with the introduction of Bukayo Saka, Kai Havertz and Martin Odegaard. We also speak about the Mr Ken Friar after he passed away this week, paying tribute to his legacy and incredible tenure at the club, as well as reported job cuts, and more.Get extra bonus content and help support Arseblog by becoming an Arseblog Member on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/arseblogDownload the Arseblog app for iOS or AndroidiOS – https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/arseblog/id369606006Android – https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.milkbarstudios.arseblog
  • Arsecast Extra Episode 716 - 11.10.2026

    01:26:55|
In this episode we look back at Saturday's 2-1 win over Leeds. We begin with some surprising selection decisions from Mikel Arteta, and a first half which saw the opposition pose more goal threat than Arsenal. Then, after falling behind in the second period, we got ourselves going with Riccardo Calafiori's equaliser before Bruno Guimaraes came off the bench to score the winner. There's discussion of how the game changed, the impact of the subs, how to frame the performance and the result, and some chat about players who didn't get off the bench. In part two we answer listener questions about Bukayo Saka and his performance, how left footed we were from the start of this game, being more creative in open play, the Arsenal crest/badge, and lots more.Get extra bonus content and help support Arseblog by becoming an Arseblog Member on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/arseblogDownload the Arseblog app for iOS or AndroidiOS – https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/arseblog/id369606006Android – https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.milkbarstudios.arseblog
  • Episode 896: Mikel's big extension

    01:11:15|
In this episode I'm joined by Kaya Kaynak to discuss the big story of the week – Mikel Arteta's contract extension. We reflect on his time at the club, where we were, where we are now, how we got here, and the context of the work he's done since his arrival in 2019. We also chat about what the future holds with a manager who is ambitious and not just signing a new deal to let anyone, least of all himself, rest on their laurels. There's some focus on player contracts too, with Declan Rice, Martin Odegaard, David Raya and Kai Havertz situations ready for action, as well as how some of the Arsenal players fared during the Interlull – in particular Viktor Gyokeres scoring four in a row for Sweden, and whether or not that puts him in the frame to start against Leeds on Saturday. All that, and much more.Get extra bonus content and help support Arseblog by becoming an Arseblog Member on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/arseblogDownload the Arseblog app for iOS or AndroidiOS – https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/arseblog/id369606006Android – https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.milkbarstudios.arseblog

In this episode of the Arsenal Women Arsecast, Tim and Jamie analyse Arsenal’s 4-2 defeat at Manchester City on Sunday, starting with events in Paris last week and Slegers’ pre-match rallying cry. There is discussion over goalkeeper rotation, a sense of stability in Arsenal’s starting line-ups now, the failure to hold the lead on two occasions in this game, another set of substitutions that seemed to confuse the team. In this Interlull episode we begin with gunge, before talking about England scoring se7en against Croatia, with Bukayo Saka getting two of the goals. There's also some inevitable Man City discussion as the ripples continue from the big story of the last 10 days, an Interlull conspiracy theory about a player we tried to sign, as well as listener questions about Martin Zubimendi, Declan Rice getting some rest, drinking in the stands, the proposed stadium expansion plans being shelved for now, and lots more.Get extra bonus content and help support Arseblog by becoming an Arseblog Member on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/arseblogDownload the Arseblog app for iOS or Android🍏 iOS – https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/arseblog/id369606006🤖 Android – https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.milkbarstudios.arseblog
  • Episode 895 - Almost a billion ...

    01:15:07|
In this episode I'm joined by Philippe Auclair to discuss the Premier League statement released this week in relation to Man City being found guilty of 114 of the 115 charges made against them. We discuss how strident the statement was, and how well presented the evidence is in the findings document, before we chat about coverage of this in the media, whether there might be political interference in any punishment the Premier League might dispense, and what the future holds for the club as long as the current owners are in place. We also touch on Pep Guardiola's statement, what level of sanction might be applied, how the Pandora's Box for legal action from other clubs and beyond has only just opened, the impact on fans, and lots more.Download the Arseblog apps🍏iOS - https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/arseblog/id369606006🤖Android - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.milkbarstudios.arseblogGet extra bonus content and help support Arseblog by becoming an Arseblog Member on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/arseblog
  • Arsenal Women Arsecast Episode 176: Bridge over troubled water

    01:08:59|
In this episode of the Arsenal Women Arsecast, Tim and Jamie look back over Arsenal’s 1-0 defeat at Chelsea on Sunday and ask where it leaves the season, how much the issues in front of goal are tactical and how much they are psychological, and how much increased squad depth is leading to confusion and a lack of cohesion. There is analysis of the team selection, a promising opening 30 minutes, another sloppy goal conceded and substitutions that appeared to create confusion over clarity. In part two, Tim and Jamie field questions submitted on BlueSky.Get extra bonus content and help support Arseblog's award winning coverage of Arsenal Women by becoming an Arseblog Member on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/arseblog
  • Arsecast Extra Episode 714 - 27.09.2026

    01:19:47|
This episode is dominated by the biggest story in football right now, Man City being found guilty on 114 of the 115 charges that have been leveled at them by the Premier League. We discuss that verdict, the length of time the case has been ongoing, before exploring the impact their financial doping has had on the game. It doesn't just impact other clubs, but fans too pay the price for the inflationary landscape. We also discuss the possible outcome and what we think would be suitable punishment for what they have done, and the way they have damaged the Premier League and football more broadly. There are some listener questions too, touching on Mikel Arteta's connection with Man City, how the league should respond, as well as some brief Kai Havertz/Viktor Gyokeres chat, and more.
