Amidst a violent storm in early 1888, a sharking vessel the Wandering Minstrel was dashed against the coral reefs of Midway Island and sunk. Her shipwrecked crew of veteran sailors, glad to be alive, dragged themselves ashore on a tiny spit of land called Sand Island. Amongst them, were Captain Walker's wife, two sons, and the family dog. Initially relieved to be alive, the survivors soon discovered that their new island home harboured dark secrets...
