Queen Nefertiti, the famed wife of King Akhenaten, ruled alongside her husband during the 18th Dynasty of Ancient Egypt. It was a time of great wealth and empire for the Egyptians, and Nefertiti and Akhenaten are amongst the most illustrious rulers of this period. They dared to push the gods of old into the background and found their own religion, Atenism, centred on the worship of the sun.
Dan is joined by archaeologist and Egyptologist Joyce Tyldesley, to tell us what we do and don't know about this famed Ancient Egyptian queen.
Produced by Mariana Des Forges and edited by Anisha Deva and Dougal Patmore.
