Asking questions, creating a safe space, and knowing where to get help is a great place to start when navigating this topic with your kids. Stacey Freedenthal, PhD, LCSW, is a suicidologist, educator, writer, psychotherapist, consultant, and speaker. She has authored two books: Loving Someone with Suicidal Thoughts: What Family, Friends, and Partners Can Say and Do, and Helping the Suicidal Person: Tips and Techniques for Professionals.
