I wrote two, and then tried my hand at short stories, the second of which sold to Asimov’s Science Fiction. After that, I was hooked.</p>\n<p>My story “The Telling”, originally published by Beneath Ceaseless Skies, won the 2013 World Fantasy Award for Short Fiction.  And my story “Bloom” from the December 2013 issue of Asimov’s was a finalist for the Theodore Sturgeon Memorial Award.</p>\n<p>My day job is in filmmaking; currently I wrangle spaceships and superheroes at the legendary Industrial Light & Magic in San Francisco.
