A catastrophic afternoon on the South Coast saw Crystal Palace's unbeaten derby streak wiped out in devastating fashion, suffering a humiliating 5-0 defeat to Brighton at the Amex. Any tactical plans Pierre Sage had drawn up vanished within the opening ten minutes as a disastrous start saw Jaydee Canvot deflect into his own net, Diego Gómez strike from distance, and Yasin Ayari cap a merciless three-goal blitz. Shell-shocked and disjointed from the European trip to Lyon, the Eagles never recovered, conceding further second-half goals to Charalampos Kostoulas and Jack Hinshelwood to end a miserable derby day that demands an immediate, ruthless response.
