{"version":"1.0","type":"rich","provider_name":"Acast","provider_url":"https://acast.com","height":250,"width":700,"html":"<iframe src=\"https://embed.acast.com/$/87b894a9-6a7a-4f17-b80b-8f7169544d4f/685ac2fd63e89e7686eb2ab8?\" frameBorder=\"0\" width=\"700\" height=\"250\"></iframe>","title":"How do we tell Trans+ history, so we can all learn from it?","thumbnail_width":200,"thumbnail_height":200,"thumbnail_url":"https://open-images.acast.com/shows/611e323106c05e31caf4077b/1750779381533-94bfe8d0-d908-4405-849f-0ac084e30c1c.jpeg?height=200","description":"<p>This week we’re sharing the conversation we recorded at the Trans+ History Week community event 2025, with the theme: How do we tell our history,</p><p>so we can all learn from it?</p><p><br></p><p>It might have taken place back in May but, well lets face it even before this year’s <a href=\"https://www.wearequeeraf.com/transhistoryweek/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Trans+ History Week</a>, which is held in the first full week in May each year - the UK’s Supreme Court decision on the definition of a woman in the Equality Act has changed the context, urgency and climate for Trans+ and queer rights.&nbsp;</p><p><br></p><p>The recording followed on directly from the first episode of the season, our <a href=\"https://www.wearequeeraf.com/live-episode-star-wars-abigail-thorn-and-sex-educations-anthony-lexa/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">live podcast recording</a> with guest host Anthony Lexa from Sex Education and special guest Abigail Thorn, of Philosophy Tube and Game of Thrones fame.</p><p><br></p><p>To celebrate the second year of creatives we’ve mentored for Trans+ History Week, we brought together one of last years, podcasters <a href=\"https://podfollow.com/queeraf/episode/d0f5822d53ad858431925044c963a9feb7ee17e4\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Alex Parnham Cope</a>, one of this year’s history writers <a href=\"https://www.wearequeeraf.com/the-story-of-the-khawalat-urges-us-to-rethink-how-we-preserve-trans-histories/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Nisreen Fox</a>, and the legal researcher who was the only Trans+ journalist commissioned in the UK media to write about the Supreme Court ruling itself during the week, <a href=\"https://www.wearequeeraf.com/uk-supreme-court-rules-that-trans-women-arent-women-under-the-equality-act-2010/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Jess O'Thomson</a>: And yes, that was by us - here on QueerAF.
